About Us

The European Institute of International Studies (EIIS) is an independent research and education institute and think tank based in Stockholm, working at the intersection of foreign affairs, global governance, geopolitics, international security, emerging technologies, and Diplomacy for Peace.

Through research, policy analysis, executive education and international dialogue, EIIS brings together academics, diplomats, policymakers, international organisations and practitioners to address major global challenges, foster international cooperation and contribute to informed policymaking.

Building on its expertise in European and global affairs, EIIS places particular emphasis on EU foreign and security policy and on the changing relationship between diplomacy, technology and global governance, with a growing focus on Tech Diplomacy, Ethical AI Governance and other emerging areas of international policy.

With a European outlook and global reach, EIIS connects knowledge, diplomacy and policy to better understand—and help shape—a rapidly changing international order.

Mission

The mission of the European Institute of International Studies (EIIS) is to advance knowledge, strengthen international dialogue and contribute to informed policymaking through independent research, policy analysis and education.

EIIS seeks to bridge research and policy by bringing together academics, diplomats, policymakers, international organisations and practitioners to examine global challenges, foster international cooperation and develop forward-looking ideas for a rapidly changing international order.

Through research, education and international engagement, EIIS is committed to preparing current and future leaders, promoting dialogue across countries and regions, and contributing to more effective global governance, responsible international action and diplomacy for peace.
