Aline Beltrame de Moura is Director of the Chair of European Union Studies at the European Institute of International Studies (Sweden). She is a professor at the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil and holder of the prestigious Jean Monnet Ad Personam Chair in European Studies. She obtained her PhD in International Law from the Università degli Studi di Milano in Italy, where her outstanding work was recognised with the ‘Riccardo Monaco Prize’ for the best doctoral thesis in international law defended in Italy in 2014.

Aline has made significant contributions in the academic sphere and in international politics. She serves as co-coordinator of the Jean Monnet Policy Debate – BRIDGE Watch (2023 to present) and was the coordinator of the Jean Monnet Network – BRIDGE Project (2020–2023). She has also led a Jean Monnet Chair (2023 to present) and a Jean Monnet Module (2018–2021), with all these projects co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme.

In addition to her academic roles, Aline is the Director of the Latin American Centre of European Studies (LACES). Comprising more than 70 Latin American and European academics, legal experts and stakeholders, LACES promotes reflection on European and regional law in its international, comparative and historical dimensions, adopting a critical and interdisciplinary approach. It also fosters academic and institutional cooperation between the two continents. Aline’s commitment to the advancement of European studies extends to her role as Editor-in-Chief of the Latin American Journal of European Studies (ISSN 2763-8685), a scholarly publication of LACES.
