Held under the theme “Fair and Free Trade for Inclusive Economies,” the seminar will bring together 56 experts from 14 countries, including researchers, academics, and professionals engaged in debates on trade, democracy, sustainability, and regional cooperation. The programme includes a seminar, the presentation of the Bridge Watch Reports, an academic workshop, and thematic roundtables over three days of activities.

The event is part of the Jean Monnet Network Policy Debate “BRIDGE Watch: Values and Democracy in the EU and Latin America,” a project co-funded by the European Commission and developed through cooperation among 14 universities from Latin America and Europe, under the co-coordination of the University of Lisbon and the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

The European Institute of International Studies highlights the relevance of this initiative within its broader commitment to promoting advanced research and international academic cooperation in the field of European Studies. In this context, the event is also of particular importance to the Institute’s Chair of European Studies, directed by Professor Aline Beltrame de Moura, who is also a member of the organizing committee of the seminar in Lisbon.

The organizing committee is composed of Nuno Cunha Rodrigues (University of Lisbon, Portugal), Aline Beltrame de Moura (Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil), and Rute Gil Saraiva (University of Lisbon, Portugal).
